I'm Engaged!

So here is the official story.
On Wednesday July 15th, Mike took me up to the state capitol supposedly to take pictures of the moating around the foundation that his father's company had put in to help earthquake-proof the building. At first I was unsuspecting, though I thought it was a little strange, but given the quality of his pictures, and the minimal concern he showed for the moating, I didn't quite buy that story.
As we reached the front steps of the capitol he suddenly got really quiet, and I asked him what he was thinking about. To my surprise he said "Asian Tourists" (a bus load had just showed up, and I found out later they ruined his initial plans of proposing to me then) A bit dismayed that he was thinking about the tourists, and not me :) we kept walking around to the east side of the building. He asked me if I would sit with him for a minute, and I knew then that he was going to propose. He talked to me about one of the first dates we had gone on when we went to see the national capitol, and some wishes we had made in a pond there. His words "Do you remember that I told you I would tell you my wish when it came true? Well it hasn't." (at which point I lightly slapped him in the stomach because I thought he was just being mean and we were going to leave) He then knelt down and asked me if I would marry him and make that wish come true, and I said yes!!

The ring pics are up for KayLyn because she can't be here to see it. Sorry about the awkward close up of the hand.

Oh and I don't have any pictures of us that day, but I thought I would put a couple up from his birthday a couple of days before.

Picnics, Picnics, Picnics

So I have been a total blogging slacker this last month, and I am trying to repent by covering a whole month in one post. So I thought I would post what I have done the most, Picnics.

Today for FHE we went up Millcreek Canyon and went on a picnic and hiking. It was so fun, although we had to cut it off early because I didn't listen to Mom and bring sweaters.

And of course someone has to take pictures while people are eating

Last weekend I was in Logan and we went on the most beautiful sunrise hike up Crimson trail
and ate breakfast while we watched the sunrise. I thought I would be the only crazy one who would want to get up that early, but 8 people showed up to go at 4:00 in the morning. It was definately worth it!

A couple of weeks ago I got to watch Dean and Lori's girls while she was helping her sister with a photo shoot. So Amy and I took Audrey to the park for lunch, and well, I never was very good at taking pictures of myself :)

And the one that started it all, when Janice was in the hospital with Lindsay, Amy and I took Annie and Ruston on a picnic, I never knew how difficult it was to get someone to eat their chicken nuggets when a delicious frosty was sitting just inches away . . .

Thanks so much Dean and Lori we had such a good time!!!

Rick and Camille's Wedding

At The TempleThe Jack Family and the baby sitter :)
Dean and His GirlsThe Reception

And of course the most entertaining guests were my beautiful nieces and nephews!
Isn't cake the reason we go to a wedding reception?

The present protectors
I sure am glad they took over that job, originally Rick had told me it was mine!

The dancing duo

And of course the cake . . .

And they lived happily ever after!!

Soccer Season

Last Weekend I got to spend the night with LaVon's kids and go watch Hollee, Sheridan, and Josh play soccer. The following Monday I also went to Mike's sister Katie's soccer game and to watch Rick and Rhett's team play as well. The most entertaining game was definately the 4 year olds! Here is Hollee's team, as you can see from her cute pigtails, she is the only girl on her team. She also seems to be the highest scoring player. Here is a shot of her as she was about to make her first of 2 goals. Go Hollee!! The Proud Fans!!
Here is Josh and Sheridan's team as their game started,

More shots of the proud fans!

The after-game picnic and icecream adventure!

Harpers Ferry & Gettysburg

Last Friday Mike took me to Harpers Ferry, West Virginia and Gettysburg Pennsylvania. We got to have a picnic down by the old mill ruins and see the old town and buildings they had restored. We also got to hike up to the old cemetery overlooking the Shenandoah Valley. I think I know what he means when John Denever sings about West Virginia being "almost heaven". After living in DC it was such a relief to be out of the city for a while

In Gettysburg we saw the battlegrounds and memorials, and the cemetery where Lincoln gave the Gettysburg address. We then had dinner in a 250 year old restaurant and "haunted" bed & breakfast. It was where General Lee would go when the Confederate army was in retreat, and it even had a room where the underground railroad had hidden slaves. It was pretty cool.

And of Course who could pass up the opportunity to stop and have a chat with Abraham Lincoln himself . . .
